3 841 people refused entry into SA over Easter

The Border Management Authority says nearly 4,000 people attempted to enter the country illegally during the Easter period.

More than a million individuals journeyed through 71 of South Africa’s ports over the period.

The Border Management Authority says it extended operational hours at key ports to accommodate the surge.

This has been announced during an update of these measures.

Commissioner Michael Masaipato said OR Tambo International Airport, Lebombo port of entry to Mozambique, and Beit Bridge port of entry to Zimbabwe remained the top three ports which processed the majority of travellers.
