Gauteng police are urging residents to be vigilant when buying products on platforms such as Facebook Marketplace.
This after the arrest of eleven suspects in Winterveldt, Pretoria believed to be responsible for robberies targeting online shoppers.
Officials said the suspects were arrested while trying to rob another unsuspecting victim.
It’s understood that the suspects falsely advertised products on the popular marketplace and robbed the potential buyers when they attempted to collect their purchases.
“Gauteng provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Tommy Mthombeni expressed his gratitude to the police officers for their excellent work in apprehending the criminals responsible for robberies that have been going on in Winterveld,” said police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo.
