Zimbabweans have reacted with a touch of humor following the news that popular American rapper Sean Kingston has been arrested in California after a SWAT raid of his rented South Florida mansion.

Fraud and Theft Charges Against Sean Kingston

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office announced the rapper’s arrest on Thursday, stating that the 34-year-old, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, faces numerous fraud and theft charges.

According to CBS News, Kingston is accused of not completing payments to VER VER Entertainment for a $150,000 entertainment system that included a massive 232-inch television. The rapper allegedly persuaded the company to accept a lower down payment and credit towards the purchase by promising to produce promotional videos featuring Justin Bieber.

The plan appears to have backfired, leading to Kingston’s arrest in Fort Irwin, California. His mother, Janice Turner, was also reportedly arrested on fraud charges during a raid at a residence in Southwest Ranches, Florida.

Kingston Responds on Instagram, Claims “Lawyers Handling Everything”

In the wake of his mother’s arrest, Kingston took to Instagram to address the situation.

“People love negative energy! I am good, and so is my mother! … My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
