2 house robbers nabbed after high-speed chase

Two suspects have been put behind bars after security services foiled a house robbery at about 14:00 on Friday, April 12.

Monitor Net spokesperson JP Le Roux said security officers from Fidelity ADT surprised the suspects during the house robbery.

Various security services and the SAPS worked together as the suspects attempted to evade arrest.

Tshwane SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Duane Lightfoot said information was received of the house robbery in progress as multiple units and security services intervened to stop the suspects.

“Upon arrival by security members, the suspects fled and a high-speed chase ensued.

“Advanced tactical measures were conducted due to severe reckless driving and the vehicle was eventually stopped on Wierda Road,” said Lightfoot.

Police were then able to detain the two suspects, who were found with suspected stolen goods in their possession.

Lightfoot said a firearm was found in the vehicle, along with a TV, laptops, and jewellery. The vehicle was also seized.

“The suspects are detained at Wierdabrug SAPS and a thorough investigation will be done to see if the suspects can be linked to other crimes.”

He said the suspects would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court in due course.
