3 suspects arrested in Lusikisiki

Three suspects linked to the Lusikisiki massacre, which claimed the lives of 18 people, have been arrested.

Police Minister Senzo Mchunu made the revelation while addressing mourners at Sunday’s memorial service for the victims.

Mchunu said that police investigations led to the arrest of the alleged culprits.

Last week police said they had a person of interest in custody for questioning, regarding the Lusikisiki massacre.

Five days later, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu confirmed that although the individual was released, officers obtained valuable intel from them.

“As police continued to investigate this case, they have arrested three people – three.”

Mchunu said that another arrest was imminent.

“A fourth person will also be arrested soon because we know their name and surname.”

The police minister, who has assured the community that his department will put an end to criminality in the area, stated that the trio would appear in court on Monday.
