Western Cape police have their hands full following a bloody weekend in Cape Town.
Six people were shot and killed in Site C, Khayelitsha, in two separate shootings on Saturday.
Three children and an adult were gunned down at a barbershop in Site C – while seven others were injured in the same shooting.
Two men were also shot and killed not too far from the barbershop incident.
Provincial Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says there could be a link between these two shootings as a white minibus taxi was used in both incidents.
“So, the common denominator is a white quantum, so we are looking at the possibility. But the investigation will lead us to the direction we will take.”
Patekile says they’ve also cast a wide net for suspects linked to another mass shooting at a house over the weekend.
“They are two men and two females but none of them stay in the house where they were. They were coming for other meetings, but we’ve moved with this investigation to other provinces as well which we suspect could assist us to solve our investigation here in the Western Cape.”
