ZERA Confirms Fuel Prices Remain Unchanged

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has assured the public that fuel prices remain unchanged, dispelling recent social media rumours of an imminent hike.

According to the latest notice, the regulated prices for diesel and blend (E5) remain as published on 18 March 2026: Diesel at US$2.05 (ZWG 52.19) and Blend (E5) at US$2.17 (ZWG 55.13).

ZERA Warns Against Misinformation

ZERA expressed concern over the circulation of false reports on social media platforms suggesting a fuel price increase.

The regulator encouraged the public to verify official petroleum price releases through ZERA’s website, Facebook page, or X (formerly Twitter) account for accurate information.

“The Authority has noted with concern various speculations and false reports circulating on social media platforms regarding an imminent price hike. The public is strongly urged to ignore such speculations and treat them as baseless.“

Compliance and Retailer Obligations

ZERA reminded all fuel retailers that selling above the regulated prices or hoarding fuel is illegal. The authority said that displaying prices clearly at service stations is mandatory to protect consumers and ensure transparency.

“All operators are strictly required to adhere to the stipulated prices. It is a violation of the law to sell fuel above the regulated cap or to hoard products.

Display of prices at service stations is mandatory and must be clearly visible to the motoring public.”

ZERA said monitoring teams remain active across the country to guarantee compliance and proper distribution of fuel.
