‘John Travolta?’ Zimbabweans React Hilariously After Man Arrested Over Warren Park Robbery
Zimbabweans have been left amused after police announced the arrest of a robbery suspect with the unexpected name John Travolta.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the 34-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with a robbery at Warren Park D Shopping Centre.
The announcement quickly caught the attention of social media users, with many joking about the suspect sharing a name with the famous American actor.

Police Confirm Travolta Arrest
According to the ZRP, the robbery happened on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at around 7pm.
Police said Travolta allegedly targeted a shop with an accomplice who remains at large.
The two suspects were reportedly armed with a pistol and had covered their faces with balaclavas.
They allegedly threatened the shopkeeper before fleeing with cash.
The stolen money amounted to US$3,813 and ZiG1,200.
Public Helps Catch Suspect
The suspects did not get far after members of the public reportedly gave chase.
One of the suspects was apprehended before police arrived and took him into custody.
Police also recovered part of the stolen money from the suspect.
The recovered cash included US$1,071 and ZiG775.
The ZRP said investigations into the robbery are continuing, while efforts are underway to arrest the second suspect.
‘John Travolta’ Name Sparks Reactions
While the robbery allegations drew attention, it was the suspect’s name that dominated social media discussions.
Zimbabweans quickly turned the police announcement into a source of jokes and movie-related references.
Some social media users joked that the famous actor had somehow ended up in Warren Park.
Others made references to Travolta’s iconic movie roles, while some users simply expressed disbelief at the unusual coincidence.
The humorous reactions came despite the seriousness of the robbery allegations.
