Zimbabwean Woman Jailed For 6 Years After Teen Schoolgirl Assault In England
A 34-year-old Zimbabwean woman, Karen Murerwa, has been jailed in England after luring a teenage schoolgirl into her Nottingham home, locking the door and sexually assaulting her.
The incident happened on 10 March 2026 when the girl was approached by Murerwa, who was unknown to her, while walking in the area.
Murerwa persuaded the teenager to accompany her to her home in Seaton Crescent. Once inside, she locked the door and took the girl’s phone.
The court heard that Murerwa also gave the teenager alcohol and made her send a message to her mother claiming she was with a friend.
Karen Murerwa Jailed For 6 Years
The girl was subsequently taken upstairs and subjected to a sustained sexual assault before she was allowed to leave.
After the teenager disclosed what had happened, police launched an investigation. Murerwa was arrested and later charged.
She pleaded guilty to 2 counts of sexual assault by penetration and 1 count of false imprisonment.
Murerwa appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 10 September 2026 and was sentenced to 6 years and 4 months in prison.
She was also given a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.
Judge Praises Schoolgirl’s Bravery
After sentencing, Judge James Sampson praised the teenager for reporting the incident.
He said her decision to come forward “may have saved another child from a similar experience.”
Detective Sergeant Nicola Roddis-Ferrari of Nottinghamshire Police said Murerwa had deliberately targeted the girl and restricted her movements before the assault.
The officer also praised the teenager for having the courage to speak to specially trained officers about what had happened.
The case concludes with Murerwa beginning a lengthy prison sentence, while the court has imposed additional measures to protect others.
