The bail application against three men accused in the Limpopo pigsty double murder case has been postponed due to delays in the finalization of a High Court appeal process.
Farm owner, Zachariah Olivier, and his two employees, Adriaan De Wet and William Musora, appeared in the Polokwane Regional Court on Wednesday morning.
They stand accused of shooting and killing Mariah Makgato and Kudzai Ndlovu and then dumping their bodies in a pigsty on Olivier’s farm, just outside Polokwane.
Delays in the High Court appeal process have resulted in the bail application not proceeding for the trio accused of killing Makgato and Ndlovu and dumping their bodies in a pigsty on a farm in Limpopo.
Olivier, De Wet, and Musora made a court appearance where they were meant to apply for bail.
However, their bail applications could not proceed due to a High Court appeal process that has not yet been finalised.
The court, in August, granted Olivier access to a statement he made after his arrest, which he wanted for purposes of bail. But the State’s appeal to deny him access to this statement is still ongoing in the High Court.
Olivier’s attorney is adamant that the statement being withheld by the State forms a crucial aspect of his client’s bail application and, therefore, they could not proceed.
The case has been remanded to 6 November for further investigation.
