Former Orlando Pirates forward Bongani Ndulula has officially ended his football career at the age of 36.
The former Bafana Bafana striker confirmed his decision after several years in professional football.
Ndulula earned 10 international caps between 2014 and 2015. He also represented South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, his biggest club memories came during his spell with Orlando Pirates.
Ndulula closes the door on football
Ndulula joined the Buccaneers during an important period in the club’s history.
He became part of the Pirates squad that completed a historic domestic treble in 2011.
The achievement remains one of the standout moments of his playing career.
After leaving Pirates in 2013, Ndulula continued his career with AmaZulu.
He later played for Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United before moving away from professional football.
Now, the former striker has confirmed that his playing days are officially over.
“I am done with football. I am now focused on doing other things. I have been playing some social tournaments to keep myself busy. But now I no longer have the energy to continue playing football,” Ndulula said.
Former Pirates favourite reflects on his career
Ndulula, who was affectionately known as ‘Drogba’, enjoyed several memorable moments during his career.
His performances also helped him become a popular figure among Orlando Pirates supporters.
One memorable moment came when he scored a late winner against Santos.
That goal strengthened his connection with the Buccaneers faithful during the club’s successful period.
Meanwhile, Ndulula also highlighted his international career when reflecting on his achievements.
“I enjoyed my time playing football. Besides playing for the two big clubs in South Africa, one of my greatest achievements was representing my country during the AFCON tournament.
“Wearing the Bafana Bafana jersey is something that I will cherish for the rest of my life,” he added.
Although professional football has now ended, Ndulula remains involved in the game.
He has continued playing in social tournaments while preparing for his next chapter away from professional football.
His retirement closes a career that included Orlando Pirates, Bafana Bafana and appearances at AFCON.
