Wicknell Chivayo And Wife Lucy To Be Laid To Rest At Same Cemetery

The families of businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, have agreed for the couple to be laid to rest at the same cemetery.

The development was confirmed by family spokesperson Herbert Chivayo as relatives and mourners continue to gather following the couple’s death in a helicopter accident near Marondera.

Families Agree On Burial Arrangements

According to Herbert Chivayo, the family has received approval from Lucy’s relatives for her to be buried alongside her husband.

The arrangement means Wicknell and Lucy, who died in the same helicopter accident, will be laid to rest at the same cemetery.

The couple were among five people who died when the helicopter crashed at Kudenga Farm near Marondera on Wednesday evening.

Also killed in the accident were security aide Sanelisiwe Magagula, pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda and co-pilot Courage Mutavirwa.

Mourners Gather To Pay Their Respects

News of the tragedy has triggered an outpouring of grief among family members, church members, friends and people who knew Chivayo through his philanthropic activities.

Mourners have gathered at the Chivayo family homestead in Borrowdale, Harare, where relatives and close associates have been coming to pay their respects to the businessman and his wife.

The accident has also drawn mourners and well-wishers to the crash site as investigations into what caused the helicopter to go down continue.

The burial dates and other funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family.
