Magaya Finally Answers The Question Zimbabweans Have Asked Since Chivayo’s Death
Prophet Walter Magaya has spoken about the death of businessman Wicknell Chivayo, saying there was “nothing amiss” about the fatal helicopter crash and describing it as “how rich people die”. Magaya made the remarks at Chivayo’s Gletwin mansion in Harare on Friday, 2 October 2026, as mourners gathered following the businessman’s death.
Magaya Addresses Questions Over Chivayo’s Death
Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, died on Wednesday, 30 September, when their helicopter crashed in the Marondera area. The crash claimed the lives of all those on board.
Magaya was asked why none of Zimbabwe’s prominent prophets had appeared to foresee the tragedy.
He responded by pointing to the limits of prophetic revelation, saying God chose to reveal some matters and keep others hidden.
Magaya also addressed the circumstances surrounding Chivayo’s death in striking terms.
“There was nothing amiss. This is how rich people die.”
His comments were captured by H-Metro during the gathering at Chivayo’s home on Friday.
Magaya Discusses Chivayo’s Plans
The comments came two days after the fatal crash that claimed Chivayo, Muteke and the other occupants of the helicopter.
Magaya also spoke about Chivayo’s plans and described the businessman as someone who had discussed projects intended to benefit Zimbabwe.
He said Chivayo had plans on his phone involving the construction of hospitals, schools and stadiums.
“I will shock you with the news on my phone where he was planning to do the hospitals that other people are crying for,” Magaya told journalists.
The comments provided further insight into the projects Magaya said Chivayo had been discussing before his death.
Chivayo’s Final Days
Magaya’s latest remarks came after he previously spoke about his final communication with Chivayo on 30 September, shortly before the helicopter crash.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed Chivayo’s death on 1 October, following the crash near Marondera.
The businessman’s death has continued to attract widespread attention because of his prominent public profile and relationships with politicians, religious leaders and other public figures.
Magaya’s comments have now added another dimension to the public discussion surrounding the tragedy.
