Eastern Cape police arrest suspect linked to Lusikisiki massacre

Eastern Cape police have made one arrest linked to the Lusikisiki massacre.

The 45-year-old suspect is charged with the murders of the 18 relatives who were killed in Ngobozana village a week ago.

He is due to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The appearance comes after police identified three persons of interest over the weekend but could not link them to the killings.

Eastern Cape police have arrested a man they believe was involved in a massacre in Lusikisiki.

The 45-year-old man was arrested at his home in Lusikisiki on Monday night.

Eighteen people were killed in two houses in the Ngobozana village last week.

Gunmen entered the properties and opened fire on the family members preparing for a tombstone unveiling.

Days later, the police ministry announced the arrest of three suspects they described as persons of interest in the mass killings.

The trio never appeared in court.

Police are expected to reveal more details related to their breakthrough later on Wednesday.
