Nafiz Modack trial: 2 accused confess to conspiring to kill Charl Kinnear

Two accused in the high profile gang trial of underworld crime boss Nafiz Modack have on Wednesday admitted to conspiring to kill detective Charl Kinnear.

They are among 14 co-accused in the dock with Modack – who faces 122 charges for various crimes — including Kinnear’s assassination in 2020.

Amaal Jantjies and Yannick Adonis have on Wednesday admitted to plotting various attacks on anti-gang unit detective Kinnear, before he was eventually shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home in September 2020.

The State alleges Modack promised Jantjies he would fund a bail application for Adonis – who was in jail for murder at the time – if she could orchestrate a hit on Kinnear.

On Wednesday, Adonis admitted he used three cellphones to plot attacks on Kinnear with Jantjies while he was in prison.

Jantjies has also admitted the evidence against her is not in dispute.
