Over 30 Students Fail To Write Exams At Findale Secondary School, Ministry Reveals Institution Is Not Registered

More than 30 students from Findale Secondary School in Eastview, Harare, could not sit for their crucial Ordinary Level exams. This shocking development has been attributed to the school’s authorities’ alleged mishandling of registration fees.

Students Left in Limbo on Exam Day

According to a report by ZBC Online News, students arrived at Findale Secondary School on Monday, prepared to write their exams. However, confusion quickly occurred when the exams did not occur as scheduled. This left both students and their parents frustrated and searching for answers.

Several parents arrived at the school to confront the administration, demanding explanations. They were perplexed about how, despite paying the required exam fees well in advance, their children were deprived of their right to take the exams.

Parents’ Concerns Grow as Statements of Entry Are Delayed

One concerned parent explained that the exam fees had been paid on time, yet there had been no communication from the school regarding the students’ exam entry details. As time passed, parents became increasingly anxious and pressed the school for clarification.

In response to this pressure, the school issued what appeared to be dubious statements of entry, which the parents promptly rejected. The situation escalated when it was revealed that these documents were invalid and that the school had no official connection with ZIMSEC (Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council), the body responsible for organizing the exams.

Findale Secondary School Not Registered with ZIMSEC

The Ministry of Education has since disclosed that Findale Secondary School is not a registered ZIMSEC centre, raising serious concerns about how the school had been operating. It is alleged that the school’s owner, identified as Mr Zivanai, had falsely claimed that the institution was an official ZIMSEC exam centre, collecting registration fees under this pretence.

In response to the scandal, the Director of Communications at the Ministry of Education, Taungana Ndoro, issued a statement urging parents to thoroughly verify the legitimacy of schools before enrolling their children. He emphasized the importance of confirming whether a school is properly registered with the Ministry of Education and ZIMSEC before making any financial commitments.
