Delivery Bikers And Motorcyclists Are Not Exempt From Smart Traffic Blitz: ZRP Warns
Delivery bikers and other motorcyclists will also face enforcement under Zimbabwe’s Smart Traffic Management System, as police widen their focus on road users violating traffic regulations.
ZRP Assistant Commissioner Gajiwett Gomo issued the warning on Wednesday during a media familiarisation tour of the system’s command centre at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Harare.
The warning comes as authorities report that smart cameras have captured 4.8 million traffic violations, with motorists already receiving mobile phone notifications containing details of offences recorded by the system.

Motorcyclists Included In Traffic Blitz
Gomo said motorcyclists, including those working in the delivery sector, would not be exempt from the enforcement measures targeting errant road users.
The warning signals that the system’s reach extends beyond motorists driving cars, with delivery bikers also expected to comply with traffic regulations.
Cameras Record Millions Of Offences
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed on 17 October 2026 that the Smart Traffic Management System (STMS) was operational in selected central business districts across the country.
Motorists began receiving notifications the following day, including links to video footage of alleged offences and information about the fines involved.
The AI-powered cameras can detect several violations, including speeding, running red lights, using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seatbelt and picking up passengers at undesignated locations.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the system was introduced to improve road safety, ease congestion and strengthen the enforcement of traffic laws.
Motorists accused of running red lights may face court proceedings instead of simply settling the matter by paying a fine.
Police Warn Against Unauthorised Fine Collectors
Alongside the rollout, police have cautioned motorists against paying fines through unauthorised agents claiming to collect money on behalf of the force.
Drivers can check recorded violations and outstanding deposit fines through the official platforms:
Motorists who need assistance can also visit designated police stations, including Harare Central Traffic, Warren Park Traffic, Avondale Traffic, Milton Park, Marlborough, Malbereign, Mbare Traffic and Chitungwiza Traffic.
Police have urged motorists to use the official channels to verify their offences and handle payments, rather than relying on intermediaries.
