Thirteen African countries have converged in Zimbabwe for a pivotal three-day consultation meeting aimed at evaluating the progress and identifying gaps in the scaled-up Zvandiri peer provider model. This initiative seeks to eliminate AIDS in children and adolescents, a critical component of the global effort to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The Zvandiri model, implemented in partnership with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC), has proven effective in addressing the unique needs of this vulnerable demographic.
The Zvandiri program is a comprehensive, peer-led initiative specifically designed for children, adolescents, and young adults living with HIV, aged 0-24. By leveraging the power of peer support and community engagement, the model has demonstrated significant potential in improving health outcomes and quality of life for this age group.
Representatives from participating countries will share experiences, challenges, and best practices, fostering a collaborative environment to strengthen the model’s implementation and impact.
