Retired Chief Air Marshal Elson Moyo Injured In A Car Accident

Retired Chief Air Marshal Elson Moyo, who previously served as the Commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, was injured in a car accident near Chegutu on Monday afternoon. The single-vehicle incident reportedly occurred around 3:00 p.m. along the Chegutu-Pickstone Mine road, approximately 10 kilometres from Chegutu.

According to a police report, the accident occurred when Moyo, aged 67, lost control of his silver Toyota Hilux double cab, bearing registration number AES 3454, while attempting to navigate a curve. The vehicle veered off the roadway, collided with a tree, overturned, and finally landed on its wheels.

Injury Report and Medical Attention

Though he did not display any visible injuries, Moyo complained of discomfort in his right hip and shoulder. A concerned passerby transported him to Chegutu District Hospital for an initial assessment.

Subsequently, Moyo was airlifted by helicopter to Harare Hospital for further medical evaluation. His condition has been reported as stable, and his family has been notified of the incident.

Vehicle Damage and Police Investigation

The vehicle suffered extensive damage, with the right front wheel dislodged, a damaged headlamp, and a dented front fender. After the accident, the car was towed to Moyo’s property at Concession Hill Farm near Chegutu. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, with the ZRP Chegutu Traffic Department managing the case under report reference number RRB 5841121.
