High-flying Miss Universe Zimbabwe Sakhile Dube made it to the Miss Universe Top 30 semifinal but narrowly missed the Top 12.
Sakhile is currently in Mexico for the Miss Universe 2024 pageant. It took place at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
The Diverse Pageant
This year marked the 73rd edition of the competition, with Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua crowning her successor. The event was notable for its inclusivity, featuring contestants from a record 125 countries and territories.
The event was hosted by Mario Lopez, Olivia Culpo, Catriona Gray, and Zuri Hall. Entertainment was provided by artists such as Robin Thicke and Emilio Estefan
The competition saw a diverse group of participants, including mothers and married women, reflecting the pageant’s evolving inclusivity. This year, the Miss Universe Organizational also removed age restrictions, allowing women over 18 to participate without upper age limits. There were also no height or weight restrictions, promoting a more inclusive environment.
Sakhile Dube In The Miss Universe Top 30
Sakhile Dube shrugged off competition from over 80 contestants and made it to the Top 30 semifinals. Some of the standout models in the Top 30 included Indira Ampiot from France, Rhea Singha from India, and Jennifer Colón from Puerto Rico.
However, Sakhile could not make it to the Top 12.
The qualified psychologist secured second place in the popular vote, just behind Finland’s Matilda Wirtavuori, after Zimbabweans rallied behind her to vote.

Sakhile wowed the audience with her striking outfit, “The Soaring Eagle,” which quickly became a fan favorite. The costume had a design of bricks and the Great Zimbabwe ruins on its train.
She also excelled in the swimsuit parade, showcasing her confidence and poise.

Months ago, Chidimma was hounded and pulled out of Miss South Africa because of her Nigerian heritage. It later emerged that her mother was not South African and stole someone’s identity.
She competed at the Miss Universe Nigeria and won the crown. At the Miss Universe in Mexico, she made it to the Top 5. Mexico, Thailand, Denmark and Venezuela also made the final 5.
