Bulawayo Couple Flees Police After Defrauding Victims With Promises of Jobs in Canada, UK, and Ireland
Police in Bulawayo are searching for a couple accused of defrauding victims of over $130,000. The suspects allegedly posed as agents for an unnamed company, claiming they could secure jobs in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Bulawayo police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, identified the suspects as Gwendoline Ndlovu (28) and Melusi Ndlovu (36).
Police Hunt for Couple Accused of $130,000 Fraud Scheme
According to the police, the couple is linked to 18 cases of fraud, swindling a total of US$134,552 between January and July 2023.
“Police in Bulawayo are appealing for information on the whereabouts of Gwendoline Ndlovu and Melusi Ndlovu, who are wanted in connection with multiple fraud cases committed in 2023,” said Inspector Ncube. “The couple is linked to 18 fraud cases between January and July 2023, with a total of US$134,552 swindled from victims under the guise of facilitating employment abroad.”
Gwendoline was first arrested on May 3, 2023, after a victim, Alison Unami, filed a report. Melusi was detained the following day when he visited his wife at Bulawayo Central Police Station.

Despite being granted bail on strict conditions, the couple provided a fake address, claiming to live in Gwanda. In reality, they resided at 300 Ntshonalanga Road, Sunninghill, Bulawayo. They later disappeared, violating their bail terms, leading to warrants for their arrest.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the couple’s whereabouts to contact the police. Inspector Ncube emphasized the importance of public assistance in bringing the fugitives to justice.
