Prisoner Claims Impregnates Two Jail Workers, Claims He’s the Victim

Darrius Tyson, a rapper serving time for the 2022 murder of a missing man, has made headlines again—this time for reportedly impregnating two jail workers. Tyson, who is currently held at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina, is now claiming he is the victim in the situation.

During a Tuesday hearing, prosecutors accused Tyson of exploiting his position at the Durham County Detention Center to obtain drugs and engage in illicit relationships with staff. The women involved, nurse Lerin Burnette and detention sergeant Jade Robertson, now face felony charges for having sexual relations with an inmate.

Daniel Meier, Tyson’s attorney, Daniel Meier, argued in court that his client was the victim and was sexually assaulted by the two women.

“He was sexually assaulted by two employees who have been charged with felonies,” he told a judge on Tuesday. “It’s a Class E felony for someone to have sexual relations with a detainee. A detainee by law cannot consent. He is a victim in those cases.”

Tyson’s current incarceration follows a series of serious charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping, and burglary. He was previously convicted of murder in 2010, but that conviction was overturned in 2020 due to prosecutorial misconduct after key exculpatory evidence was withheld.

Following the recent allegations, Tyson was transferred from the Durham County Detention Center to Central Prison in Raleigh.

Tyson’s mother, Murryette Tyson, maintains her son’s innocence on all charges.

She also alleged that her son was assaulted by detention officers in August, claiming he suffered jaw injuries from the incident.

However, a spokesperson for the jail stated that no assault had been reported at the time and that they could not investigate based on the limited information provided.
