3 South African Clubs Linked With Khama Billiat
Billiat, who is a free agent following his exit from Yadah FC, has attracted the interest of SuperSport United, Sekhukhune United, and TS Galaxy who are all vying to secure his signature ahead of the January transfer window.
Billiat, 34, is no stranger to South Africa. Having spent over a decade playing in the PSL and owning a home in Midrand, Johannesburg, the country feels like a second home to the Zimbabwean footballer. Following his exit from Yadah FC, speculation is rife that he may return to the PSL.
“There is a possibility right now that Khama Billiat could return to the PSL since he will become a free agent soon, a few teams have enquired about his availability and talks are ongoing,” an insider told GOAL.
Early Talks with PSL Teams
While discussions are still in their infancy, Billiat’s management is reportedly working tirelessly to secure him a deal with one of the interested clubs. Sekhukhune United, TS Galaxy, and SuperSport United are among the leading contenders.
“Actually, Sekhukhune United, TS Galaxy and SuperSport United are some of them, unfortunately, I can’t name all the teams but don’t be surprised when you see him in one of those teams. Talks with interested teams are still in the first, or rather early stages. But his management is working hard to get him a new team. I believe more information could be available when he officially becomes a free agent at the end of the month,” he added.
Billiat May Stay in Zimbabwe Despite Interest
The source also hinted that Billiat has piqued the interest of several Zimbabwean teams. Interestingly, before his move to Yadah in February, Billiat trained with SuperSport United under the guidance of Gavin Hunt, his former coach at Kaizer Chiefs. While a deal failed to materialize then, the door may now be open for a reunion.
