Econet Wireless Unveils ZiG Prices for Voice, Data & SMS, Makes Important Announcement on ZiG Bundles

Zimbabwe’s largest mobile operator Econet Wireless has made an important announcement regarding ZiG bundles and tariffs.

In a public notice shared across its social media platforms, Econet unveiled the ZiG prices for voice, data and SMS.

Econet Unveils ZiG Prices Approved by POTRAZ

In the announcement, the mobile network operator said the ZiG prices which, were approved by the Postal & Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), will take effect on Friday 12 April.

Econet customers will be charged ZiG 0.0098 per second for voice calls, ZiG 0.0928 per megabyte (MB) of data and ZiG 0.1207 per SMS. The notice reads:

Dear Customer,

Please note that the currency migration has been successfully completed. The following ZiG prices for Voice, Data & SMS will be applicable effective, Friday 12 April 2024:

Voice — ZiG 0.0098 per second

Data — ZiG 0.0928 per MB

SMS — ZiG 0.1207 per SMS

To access Voice, Data & SMS bundles, dial *143#.

All prices are inclusive of taxes and are Regulator approved.

NetOne and Telecel Yet to Unveil ZiG Prices

While rival competitors NetOne and Telecel are yet to unveil their ZiG tariffs, one can expect them to be within the same range as Econet’s regulator-approved rates. Historically, NetOne and Telecel will probably have cheaper data bundles than Econet but the maximum price cannot exceed the price/MB.

When Can Econet Customers Start Buying ZiG Bundles?

In a separate announcement, Econet announced to its customers via SMS that they will be able to buy ZiG voice, data, SMS and social media bundles on Friday 12 April using the *143# USSD. As of the time of writing, the list of ZiG bundles available for purchase for the Econet customer has not been made available.
