Customers Now Able to Purchase Electricity Tokens in ZiG Currency, Says ZETDC
The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution (ZETDC), a subsidiary of ZESA has successfully migrated to Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency.
Customers can now purchase electricity tokens in ZiG currency.

ZETDC Temporarily Suspends Local Currency Sales, Moves to USD in Preparation for ZiG Currency
The ZiG currency was unveiled on Friday last week by the new Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor, John Mushayavanhu.
Following the introduction of the new currency, ZETDC temporarily suspended electricity token sales in the local currency to facilitate the changeover to the ZiG currency.
As a result, during the transitional period, the electricity company resorted to exclusively selling electricity tokens in USD.
“Please note that our conversion to ZiG is still underway. In the interim, all customers can purchase tokens using USD currency or pay their bills in USD at ZETDC banking halls countrywide and through online platforms,” ZETDC informed its customers .

ZETDC Successfully Transitions to Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) Currency for Electricity Token Sales
However, the power utility company has successfully transitioned to the new gold backed currency and is now selling electricity tokens in local currency.
In a statement, ZETDC advised its customers that they can now purchase electricity tokens in ZiG and USD currency from any ZETDC banking halls and online platforms.
“We are pleased to advise that we have successfully migrated to the ZiG currency. Customers can now transact in ZiG and USD from ZETDC banking halls and online platforms.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during the transition period,” reads the statement.
ZETDC has finally joined a number of businesses – including banks and several retailers across the country –that have migrated to ZiG currency following its introduction.
