Apostolic sect leader Ishmael Chokurongerwa better known as Madzibaba Ishmael is facing 5 fresh counts of having sexual intercourse with a minor. He was remanded in custody to 7 May and referred to the High Court for bail application.
Chokurongerwa (54) was arrested several weeks ago together with other seven members of his sect. They were charged with violating the Burial and Children’s Act, respectively. He is now facing five counts of “having sexual intercourse with a minor”. Prosecutors allege that Chokurongerwa engaged in sexual relations with 5 minors between 2018 and 2024.
