If he wins the seat, he will be the first African to represent Birchills Leamore ward in Walsall Council chamber, West Midlands. Pfebve is running under the Labour Party in the polls set for 2 May 2024. The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in England elected him.
Pfebve has been on the campaign trail, rallying for support as the elections date looms.
Pfebve initially ran in the 2019 local government polls and lost the ward seat. The former Zimbabwe opposition politician is vying again to join the list of Zimbos who have held political positions in the UK. In 2022, Corby Town Council elected Tafadzwa Chikoto as Mayor, becoming the first black person in that position.
Pfebve was one of the founding members of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and the party’s parliamentary Bindura North candidate in the 2001 elections. He however fled to the UK over what he called the “reign of terror” in his constituency.
Pfebve represented the MDC in the diaspora, becoming the party’s envoy to the EU from 2013 to 2022 when CCC was formed.
Professor Pfebve has taught at top universities in the United Kingdom. In 2019, Pfebve was appointed the Course Leader-Apprenticeships Degrees at Coventry University. He has been a lecturer at the institution since 2015.
From 2013 to 2016, Pfebve was a researcher at the University of Wolverhampton. In 2000, he spent an international student in Sweden.
