A Deputy Ambassador’s late husband’s friends defrauded her of a US$40 000 car after his death in an attempt to keep a borrowed vehicle.
The Incident That Led To Friend’s Arrest
The vehicle, which belonged to the late husband of Deputy Ambassador Mauswa, was reportedly misappropriated. Tinashe Mungwena, the accused, appeared before Harare Regional Magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei and was remanded to June 11 for further proceedings.
Husband’s Unfortunate Demise and Car Drama
Tragedy struck when Mauswa’s husband was involved in a fatal road accident in Victoria Falls on March 7, leaving Mauswa bereaved. At the time of her husband’s demise, Mungwena retained possession of the vehicle.
Mauswa, upon realizing that the vehicle was rightfully part of her late husband’s estate, demanded its return from Mungwena. However, Mungwena allegedly declined, asserting that he had purchased the vehicle from Besa in September of the previous year.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that Mungwena had handed over the vehicle to ZRP Bulawayo Traffic through his wife, following awareness of the reported case.
