Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Sihle Zikalala has called on developers to stop cutting corners when it comes to the safety of workers to prevent further construction disasters.
Zikalala was speaking in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, where four people died when an embankment collapsed at the weekend.
This is the third construction tragedy to claim lives in weeks, including the George building collapse where 33 people died.
Zikalala said regulations must be tightened in the built industry.
“We will be ensuring that professionals who work in the industry follow the standards that are set. Regulations that govern the industry must be followed by all.”
