Pitso Mosimane to Coach Zimbabwe?: The Staggering Monthly Salary Needed to Lure the Football Maestro Revealed
Zimbabwe’s national senior men’s team has suffered a string of poor performances in their 2026 World Cup Qualifying matches, losing 2-0 to Lesotho and suffering a 3-1 defeat against South Africa. These results have made it clear that the team requires a new, experienced coach to turn their fortunes around.
One name that has been floated as a potential replacement is former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane. Mosimane has enjoyed success both in his home country of South Africa, where he led Mamelodi Sundowns to great heights, as well as with the Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Pitso Mosimane’s Salary Demands Revealed as Zimbabwe Seeks Coach
If Zimbabwe were to pursue Mosimane, they would likely need to be prepared to pay a significant monthly salary, estimated to be around R2 million. This is in line with the staggering R1.55 million per month that Mosimane was earning at Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020.
Mosimane recently attempted to save Saudi Pro League side Abha Club from relegation, but with his contract ending at the end of this month, he may be available. His previous stint at Mamelodi Sundowns revealed his substantial earnings, with court documents showing a monthly salary of R1.55 million in 2020.

Legal Battle with Mamelodi Sundowns
Mosimane and Mamelodi Sundowns are involved in a legal dispute at the South Gauteng High Court. Sundowns are saying they are entitled to a refund of about R8.6 million in agent’s commission from Mosimane’s management company, MT Sports Marketing and Management, due to a contract clause.
Mosimane signed a lucrative new contract with Sundowns in May 2020 but left to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly in late September 2020. Court papers indicate Mosimane’s contract included a 10% bonus from prize money for league or cup competition wins and net bonuses for match victories.
