Women are at risk of contracting a scalp infection if they continue using a Dark And Lovely shampoo, which is said to cause scalp infections.

Dark And Lovely Shampoo Recalled For Causing Scalp Infections

The Consumer Protection Commission warned over a 50ml single-use neutralising shampoo contained in the Dark and Lovely Moisture Plus Kits (regular and super). L’Oreal, which produces the shampoo, has since recalled the product.

A probe revealed that the shampoo contains bacteria, which causes scalp infection in people with compromised immune systems. Zimbabwe has now recalled the shampoo from the shelves.

In a public warning, the Commission said:

“The Consumer Protection Commission is in receipt of a notice from the COMESA Competition Commission on the recall of the 50ml single-use neutralising shampoo contained in the Dark And Lovely moisture plus kit (Regular and Super) and Dark And Lovely anti-breakage kit for containing bacteria that may lead to scalp infections in those with compromised immune systems.”

The Consumer Protection Commission urged people with the shampoo to take it back to the shop where they got it from and get their money back:

“The Commission is therefore urging members of the public in possession of the 50ml single-use neutralising shampoo contained in the Dark And Lovely moisture plus kit (Regular and Super) and Dark And Lovely anti-breakage kit to immediately discontinue use of the product and return it to the point of sale for a full refund. The manufacturer, L’Oreal, has recalled the product.

“This recall is being made in line with Section 15 (I) (e) read with sub-section 2 (b) of the Consumer Protection Act, which requires the Commission to “recall the goods for repair, replacement or refund if the goods are unsafe” and “carry out a recall programme on any terms required by the Commission”.
