Business mogul Wicknell Chivayo has rewarded newly crowned Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions Scotland FC with a staggering US$250,000 after their remarkable league triumph.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Chivayo expressed immense joy at the club’s achievement, describing it as “historic” and a proud moment for Zimbabwean football.

“History Has Been Made” — Chivayo Celebrates Mabvuku’s Finest

In a celebratory post, Chivayo congratulated the team for defying the odds and making history.

“WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS……!!!!
HISTORY has been made!!! For the first time in FOUR DECADES, SCOTLAND FC has achieved what only BLACK RHINOS managed back in 1984 — winning the CASTLE LAGER PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE in the same year they were elevated into the topflight league,”
wrote Chivhayo.

He praised the team’s journey from humble beginnings in Mabvuku to becoming national champions, calling it an achievement that “deserves to be celebrated in grand style.”

Scott Sakupwanya Commended for Leadership

Chivayo also extended special praise to Hon. Scott Sakupwanya, the Member of Parliament for Mabvuku and founder of Scotland FC.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire team and, most importantly, to the LEADER, Hon. SCOTT SAKUPWANYA (MP), the founder of Scotland FC. You promised us MABVIRAVIRA, and true to your words, you have delivered MORE THAN MABVIRAVIRA!”

He invited the team captain and manager to meet him personally to collect the US$250,000, which he described as a “small token of appreciation” to be shared among the players, coach, and technical staff.

Renewed Sponsorship Pledge and Bold Ambitions

Chivayo further reaffirmed his sponsorship commitment to the club, promising to help strengthen the team for future success.

“I also take this opportunity to reaffirm my SPONSORSHIP PLEDGE to the club, which will empower Scotland FC to sign more young, talented players and keep building this unstoppable winning team,” he wrote.

In his typical flamboyant fashion, Chivayo humorously hinted at future signings, saying,

“At this rate, we will soon sign the likes of Kylian Mbappé and even Erling Haaland ku Scotland!”
