Controversial philosopher Joshua Maponga has  hit back at critics who have been scrutinising him for retreating into the wilderness.

His mental state has come under scrutiny. Speculations are rife over his mental health with many alluding that he has gone mad.

Firebrand Joshua Maponga has been trending in social media after pictures of him in the wilderness went viral. He has retreated into the wilderness in effort to reconnect with his roots and ancestors. However, his retreat to the wilderness has a flurry of criticism from social media users.

Addressing Critics: Maponga’s Defense and Commentary on African Self-Hate

Taking to his Facebook account to address all the criticism that he has been receiving, Joshua Maponga stated that self hate of Africans is on a high level.

“The self hate of Afrikans is on steroids..
Nyweee nyweee I speak in tongues…. my papa said.. My Prophet said…”

He juxtaposed how when Europeans visit mountains and rivers, people claims that it is tourism but when he goes to the rivers and the mountains people quickly claim that he has mermaid spirits or that he has gone mad.

I go to the mountains… Wopenga.. Watanda botso…
You live in concrete caves you call them tuskan
I put my skins i am. Backward.. You put on leather jackets and shoes and snake handbags...”

He questioned why Africans fuel and promote self-hate amongst themselves.

Promoting Cultural Pride: Maponga’s Call to Celebrate African Heritage

In another post on X, formerly Twitter, Joshua Maponga he urged people to celebrate their roots. He argued that no one has the right to make another person feel like their culture is inferior than theirs.

“No one has a right to make you feel like your culture is less than theirs…. Embrace you value and celebrate your roots… FoT”
