The man accused of killing former professional heavyweight boxer, Mark Strydom, has been granted bail.
David Knox, a former cop and tow-truck owner, appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Knox was arrested for shooting Strydom at the Grand Slam sports bar in Edenvale on Saturday following a dispute.
A calm and collected Knox appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday afternoon.
According to the State, Knox and Strydom got into a physical spat, resulting in Strydom producing a firearm and firing several shots into the roof.
Knox retaliated by firing two shots at Strydom, who died on the scene.
Knox was granted bail of R5,000, as the State was unable to provide substantial evidence to oppose bail.
