Alick Macheso’s Album Launch Postponed Following Government Ban on Public Events Ahead of SADC Summit?

Alick Macheso’s Album Launch Gets Green Light Despite Public Event Ban

Alick Macheso’s manager, Tich Makahamadze, has allayed fears that the Orchestra Mberikwazvo frontman’s album launch will be postponed, despite the government’s ban on public events ahead of the SADC summit in August.

Macheso is set to launch his album “Kupa Kuturika” at the Alexander Sports Club in Harare on Friday. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has given the event the green light, even though there were initial concerns about the event clashing with the SADC Industrialisation Week.

Officer Commanding Harare District, Chief Superintendent Godfrey Moyo, has advised Macheso’s camp to strictly adhere to the conditions of the clearance.

Orchestra Mberikwazvo’s Commitment to Responsible Conduct

Speaking to The Sunday Mail, Orchestra Mberikwazvo band manager Tich Makahamadze confirmed the police clearance and thanked the relevant authorities for giving the launch their stamp of approval. Makahamadze assured that the Orchestra Mberikwazvo will be on their best behaviour and ensure the event is conducted within the conditions.

“We would like to thank the authorities for the opportunity. The clearance proved the amount of trust that has been bestowed on us by the authorities during this ongoing SADC Industrialisation Week. We understand people from across the region are in the country for the regional event and we will do our best,” Tich Makahamadze said.
