The bodies of 45 people who died in the tragic Limpopo bus crash have been repatriated to Botswana.
The deceased were en route to Moria in Limpopo for an Easter gathering when their bus plunged off a bridge and caught fire.
An eight-year-old girl is the sole survivor of the crash and she made it out with minor injuries.
She says all she remembers about the incident is that she was carried and thrown out of the window of the moving bus.
The first aircraft from the Botswana Defence Force arrived earlier on Tuesday afternoon at Polokwane International Airport to repatriate the remains of the 45 Botswana nationals.
It’s transporting the first 25 bodies to Gabarone, the second load will follow closely behind fetching the remaining bodies.
Limpopo Health MEC Pophi Ramathuba says this has been a traumatizing journey.
“The journey has been painful, it has been long and traumatizing, especially to our team who had to positively identify the remains through our DNA sampling and matching processes.
