Call for IEC to step out of court and into polls

An election expert says the IEC can focus on next week’s polls now that the saga involving former President Jacob Zuma and the MK Party is over.

Terry Tselane hopes the Electoral Commission has not been derailed by the case and is ready for the big election day.

“The fact that they’ve had to deal with so many court cases hopefully has not affected their focus in terms of the logistics of the process, we will see on the day of the elections,” he said.

“But we can all hope that this has not had any negative effect in terms of their preparations.”
