City of Cape Town Law Enforcement officers have come under attack from taxi operators on two occasions this week.
Four were attacked in Milnerton on Tuesday following a high-speed chase involving an overloaded minibus taxi and two taxi drivers were arrested.
A group of men also assaulted two officers in Hout Bay while they were issuing a fine to an Amaphela taxi driver for obstructing traffic on Monday.
Safety and security MMC, JP Smith: “We condemn these brazen attacks on our staff, and I call on the justice system to deal swiftly with these suspects. Work is ongoing to track down the suspects in the Hout Bay matter. We call on anyone with information, to please report it to the city’s informant reward hotline.”
