Chinhoyi Snake Charmer Dies After Getting Bitten by Puff Adder While Parading It at Local Bar

In a rather tragic incident, a Chinhoyi snake charmer, Show Chedhu—popularly known as ‘Mabhemba’—passed away after being bitten by a venomous Puff Adder.

Chedhu was bitten by the snake while parading it at a local bar on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite being rushed to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, he succumbed to the venom early Thursday morning.

The Fatal Encounter

Chedhu, encountered the highly venomous snake near his fowl run in the Alaska Dolomite area.

Known for his skill in handling snakes, particularly adders, he took the snake and began parading it around the compound, drawing the attention of onlookers, New Zimbabwe reveals.

Some residents took pictures and videos of him with the snake and posted them on social media. In the footage, Chedhu appears visibly intoxicated while he paraded and played around with the dangerous reptile.

A Deadly Bite at the Local Bar

The situation took a deadly turn when Chedhu brought the snake to a local bar. While at the establishment, the snake, clearly agitated, struck him on the leg.

Witnesses reported that the snake’s fangs remained lodged in his leg, causing severe injury.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but by the early hours of Thursday, the venom had taken its toll, and he was pronounced dead.

South African Celebrity Snake Handler Graham ‘Dingo’ Dinkelman Dies After Green Mamba Bite

Meanwhile, just last month, South African celebrity snake handler and YouTuber Graham ‘Dingo’ Dinkelman passed away after being bitten by a green mamba snake.

Dinkelman, affectionately known as “South Africa’s Steve Irwin,” died in October after a prolonged battle in the ICU.

He had been fighting for his life after being bitten by the snake at his home in September 2024.
