City Power calls on defaulting customers to make payment arrangements

City Power has expressed concern over illegal connections to its network, calling on customers to rather make payment arrangements with the utility.

This comes after the power utility cut the electricity supply for residential and commercial properties in Ormonde and Selby, which owe the entity a combined R32 million.

City Power and law enforcement agencies carried out a disconnection drive on Thursday.

“These businesses decide to disregard the legal channel and resort to illegal connections, instead of exploring available payment options with City Power. Customers are encouraged to approach the service delivery centre nearby or any City of Joburg offices and they can enter into an acknowledgment of debt so that City Power does not come knocking on their doors to disconnect them,” said City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena.
