The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Gauteng says it will be concluding the counting of votes at the provincial Results Operation Centre in Alberton, in the next few hours. The African National Congress (ANC) is currently leading in the province by a slight margin with more than 1 330 000 votes so far.
This is closely followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) with more than 1 057 000 votes, with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in third position with just under 500 000 votes.
The IEC’s Provincial Electoral Officer in Gauteng, Thabo Masemola says, “We are indeed at the tail end of the coalition of results, there are one or two exceptions and we are chasing the scanning of the results into the system.
“The auditors are auditing the final results into the system, who are putting them into the system as final results and yes we are progressing fairly well and we should be concluding this in the next few hours.
