Daisy Mtukudzi, widow of legendary musician Oliver Mtukudzi, has spoken out against the backlash she faced for allegedly preventing her stepdaughter, Selmor Mtukudzi, from performing at the upcoming Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival (OMIFA).
In an interview with The Herald, Daisy expressed frustration at being blamed for Selmor’s initial absence from the lineup, stating that event organizers had tried to reach Selmor but were ignored. Daisy also emphasized that Selmor, as Oliver’s daughter, should have taken the initiative to be involved in the family event.
Despite the controversy, Selmor later confirmed her participation in the festival after consultations with stakeholders. She thanked her fans for their support, saying, “I will not take it for granted. For that reason and in honor of my father’s legacy, I will be coming to Pakare Paye. Let’s do this right.”
