Deceased police officers will never be forgotten: Paul Mashatile

Acting President Paul Mashatile says that the families of the 39 police officers, who died in the line of duty, should find comfort in knowing that their loved ones will never be forgotten. Mashatile led the South African Police Service (SAPS) annual commemorative ceremony at the Union Buildings in Pretoria for the police officers who died between April last year and March this year.

The names of the officers will now be engraved on the SAPS Wall of Remembrance. Mashatile says the deceased were not just law enforcement officials, they belonged to families.

He says, “These police officers who died while protecting South Africa and her people are not just a statistic; they were husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, and most of them were breadwinners in their families.
