Chillspot Records producer DJ Ribhe’s bail hearing has hit another roadblock after the investigating officer in his rape case could not be found.
The High Court was forced to postpone the hearing to today after the State revealed it was unable to locate the officer, who is reportedly off duty and visiting his rural home.
Investigating Officer in DJ Ribhe Case Goes Missing
DJ Ribhe has been in pre-trial custody for nearly a month. He initially applied for bail last week, but the hearing was deferred to Tuesday 3 December, to allow the State to file its response.
When the day arrived, the State requested another delay, citing the need for the investigating officer’s testimony to strengthen their position. Justice Regis Dembure agreed to reschedule the hearing to today, giving the State time to finalize its written response and ensure the officer’s presence in court.
According to the State, the investigating officer’s testimony is crucial for determining whether DJ Ribhe is eligible for bail. The producer’s lawyer, Advocate Silvester Hashiti, supported by Rubaya and Chatambudza Legal Practitioners, consented to the postponement.
Allegations Against DJ Ribhe
DJ Ribhe faces serious allegations of drugging and raping a 14-year-old girl. The victim, who lives in the same neighbourhood, had visited DJ Ribhe’s home before they went to Mashwede Village in the company of other people.
The State claims that while at Mashwede, DJ Ribhe manipulated the minor into consuming an unknown substance and smoking shisha. Later that night, he allegedly brought her back to his home, where he raped her. The girl reportedly regained consciousness the following day.
Upon waking, she realised she had been assaulted. After being missing for two days, she was found by a search party. When questioned about her whereabouts, she disclosed the abuse to her father.
