Eastern Cape motorists urged to be extra vigilant on roads after deadly collision near Mthatha

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport is calling on motorists to be extra vigilant on the roads after six people died in a car crash on the N2 in Qweqwe village outside Mthatha.

The department said three other people are in critical condition in hospital.

The incident happened on Friday, where at least eight people died on provincial roads just days apart.

Department Spokesperson Unathi Binqose said the cause of the latest crash is still unknown.

“The MEC for Transport in the Eastern Cape, Mr Xolile Nqatha, is calling on road users to be extra vigilant on our roads at all times, as a lot of people are losing their lives while others are sustaining life-altering injuries in crashes that can be avoided.”
