Fikile Mbalula says the ANC entered the elections with weak & ineffective branches

African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said that the party entered the 2024 national and provincial elections with weak and ineffective branches.

Mbalula made the comment on the sidelines of the ANC’s National Working Committee meeting at the Birchwood Hotel in Ekurhuleni on Monday.

The meeting was convened to identify factors that led to the organization’s failure to secure a majority in Gauteng following the May polls.

Mbalula has partially attributed the party’s poor performance to ANC branches that weren’t engaged in its election campaign.

“There are many things that we need to do. we need strengthening if structures and branches. We went into these elections with weaker structures. Over and above, we were affected by this descend to the Zuma party, which has imploded from within. So that has aided our party from getting more numbers.”
