The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested five girls in connection with a viral video showing a young girl being assaulted and stripped by a group of women.
The incident occurred on July 4, 2024, at a homestead in Mupfuuri Village, Wedza, where the suspects had lured the victim under the pretext of giving her vegetable seedlings.
The suspects, Vimbai Mike (19), Rudo Manjere (17), Lilly Rose Munyoro (16), Lillian Chido Munyoro (16), and Sandra Vhumbunu (17), are facing charges of aggravated indecent assault. They are alleged to have taken turns assaulting the victim with switches, inserting sticks into her private parts, and recording the incident. The victim was left unconscious and was later freed naked.
The five suspects are currently in police custody, with the juveniles being held in the custody of their parents.
