Gauteng Education MEC commits to 100 new schools in next 5 years

A hundred new schools over the next 5 years.

That is the commitment made by the Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane.

Chiloane was briefing the media earlier on Sunday on the progress made during its online admissions process which kicked off early last month.

Speaking to the publication on the sidelines, Chiloane acknowledged the exponential growth of the province’s population and revealed the department’s plan to build additional schools.

“At the minimum we get 500 to a 1000 people coming into Gauteng every day and those numbers ultimately are putting pressure on the system because they are bringing their families, so in the next five years we’re looking at building 100 schools.”
