Gauteng police are investigating the death of a patient at the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital.
According to the provincial Department of Health, two nurses found the 36-year-old woman hanging by a mobile phone charger cable inside a locked bathroom on Monday afternoon.
It’s understood the patient, who was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, was receiving care at the facility.
The department’s Khutso Rabothata said, “Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, she was sadly declared dead. Hospital staff affected by this traumatic event are receiving counselling. The police have been notified and are investigating the matter.”
