Gautrain services will operate as normal during the evening peak hours despite some workers downing tools over wage disputes.
Earlier on Monday aggrieved workers affiliated with trade union NUMSA protested in Midrand, demanding a wage increase of at least nine percent.
The workers are employed by the Bombela Operating Company, which is contracted to run and maintain the province’s rapid rail system.
Gautrain Spokesperson Kesagee Nayager has assured commuters that their trips won’t be affected by the ongoing demonstrations.
“I can confirm that the Gautrain services, that is both the bus and train services, are operating according to schedule. We are not experiencing any delays and we’ll keep our customers updated in this regard.”
